The Knox County Fiscal Court is the legislative body of county government, and the Judge/Executive is the Court's Chief Executive Officer. There are nine additional Knox County governmental offices, run by their own, independently elected officials.
Judge/Executive
The Judge Executive serves as a member and presiding officer of the
fiscal court and acts as the county’s chief executive and
administrative official.
Fiscal
Court
The Knox County Fiscal Court is the governing policy board and
legislative body of the county. It is comprised of 5 Magistrates, each
serving a four-year term and is elected from single member districts,
and the Judge/Executive, elected county-wide.
Elected
Offices
Nine independently elected office run the additional Knox County
governmental offices that oversee many functions and services of county
government. The County Board has no direct control over these offices,
except in the passage of their budgets and approvals of their bond
issues, contracts and payroll in some cases.
